Last year was the first season for the Jr. J-Hawk Boys Basketball Organization. In it’s inaugural year we welcomed in 6 previously formed teams, and started 3 new teams! The “Previously Formed” teams will still be able to operate as is and not be required to attend Jr. J-Hawk Tryouts. However all “New” teams that were formed last year will be a part of the Tryout Process again this year. Even though the members of the “New” teams from last year are trying out, they will be guaranteed a spot on a team again (Provided that we have enough coaches again). If we have enough players to have multiple teams at a grade level, Team 1 will be formed with the top 8 players based on evaluation results. Team 2 will consist of the next 8 – 10 players and Team 3 will consist of the next 8 – 10 players.
Any player wanting to join the Jr. J-Hawk Boys Basketball Organization after tryouts will be assigned if space is available. If teams are full, the players will be placed on a waiting list until enough players are available for a new team to be formed.
Players will be evaluated on individual and team skills. They will be evaluated by a panel of 3 – 5 experienced basketball individuals in the areas of ball handling, Shooting, & Defense. The scores will be averaged and totaled for each player.
All prospective Jr. J-Hawks must register online prior to tryouts. We will be hosting tryouts on Sunday, August 2nd. Grades 3 & 4; 6:00 – 7:00, Grade 5 & 6; 7:00 – 8:00, Grade 7 & 8; CANCELLED. The registration deadline is Thursday, July 30th.
There will be no fee for registration this year. Once teams are selected we will be collecting fees to cover tournament entry fees, District gym liability insurance, Website Maintenance, and additional organization fees. (This information will be presented to you at Tryouts)
